About Me
When I was in 9th grade, my Physics teacher asked everyone to share their favorite subject in class. I answered that I liked English. She bristled at the affront that I'd chosen language over science.
I had a natural flair for learning languages, but I found the language in science books to be particularly 'heavy'. The concepts were complex enough. Did their explanations need to be complex too? The language did not stop me from pursuing a college education in engineering, but I always resented that there could be a better way to explain the science.
Writing my graduate thesis for my masters program was my first proper foray into the world of technical writing. I followed that with a technical paper on the same research, a challenge that required me to summarize my 200-page thesis into two pages.
A few years later, I supported UX designers and technical writers in a workshop where customers were invited to test upcoming features and share their feedback. That introduced me to the world of technical writing. I have never looked back since.
In my writing career, I have worked with major companies and engineering teams around the world. Through my work experiences, I have:
- Documented software and hardware products
- Helped improve feature designs
- Established new processes for content creation, review, and quality improvement
- Improved collaboration with partnering teams
- Challenged the status quo
- Brought teams together with my social skills
Today, I obsess over making things better, simpler, and easier wherever I go. I want to create content that excites people and encourages them to learn more. I want people to love science, not fear it. And I use words to do this work. I wonder what my Physics teacher would have to say about that.
But enough about me! How can I make your content better?
