The VTune Profiler Get Started Guide
Context:
The Get Started Guide is one of the most popular document types in Intel software documentation. Its purpose is to help the user achieve a quick win with a smooth out-of-the-box experience. When I inherited this document, I approached its rewriting activity with a vision of what I would want to find if I were a new user of this product. At that time, I was new to the product anyway, so the learning process helped me craft this content.
The Work:
VTune Profiler is a popular tool in software performance analysis. Depending on their level of expertise, users have their preferred ways to start and run the tool. I decided to document the most popular way and also inform about an analysis as the recommended starting point.
When I rewrote this document, it existed as an independent guide. When I introduced the ‘megabook’ format, some topics in this guide needed to be rewritten for a cohesive experience. Check out the results!
