UX And Docs - Examining The Symbiosis

Context:

The software documentation team at Intel had members in America and Russia. In 2021, our Russian colleagues started a ‘Tech Writing School’ to educate college students and professionals who were interested in pursuing a career in technical writing. Each month, this forum hosted virtual talks on a range of topics about the technical writing profession. 

I was invited to speak in this forum about the symbiosis between documentation and user experience.

The Work:

In my talk, I covered the importance of good technical content, be it documentation or UX content. I clarified the meanings of utility, usability, user experience, and brand experience. I explained the ways in which docs and UX can help each other. I also incorporated interactive exercises that taught useful lessons in crafting quality UI content.
